Santa Maria
To the Portuguese people, Our Blessed Mother was called Santa Maria. However, on July 13, 1917, She introduced Herself in the local language to the three shepherd children as Senhora do Rosario meaning Our Lady of the Rosary.

Portugal, is a small nation to the west of Spain on the Atlantic Ocean. Fatima is located in the very heart of Portugal, in the mountainous central region of the Serra de Aire, about 2 hours drive from the capital, Lisbon. Originally a remote village of the Moors in the municipality of Vila Nova de Ourem, it now enjoys the status of a town named after the daughter of Mohammed, the great prophet of Islam. Is there a hidden reason why our Blessed Mother chose this place to give Her message to the world? The years 1916 and 1917 will be remembered as among the darkest in the history of the people in Europe. In 1916, the Angel of Peace appeared three times to the three shepherd children to prepare them for the apparitions of Our Lady. The children were Lucia dos Santos, the eldest and 10 years old at that time, Francisco Marto, who was 9 years old and his sister, Jacinta Marto, who was 7 years old, both were cousins of Lucia.

Itinerary
Day 1: Depart the USA on your flight to Lisbon, Portugal. Meals will be served on the overnight flight.
Day 2: "Boa Vinda!" That's " Welcome!" in Portuguese. After arriving in Lisbon, our Tour Director welcomes us with a beautiful smile and escorts us through the mountainous central region of the Serra de Aire toward Fatima, which was once a remote village of the Moors. Dinner and overnight in Fatima.

Day 4:		 Today marks the Anniversary of the Apparition of Our Lady of Fatima. Let us be thankful and celebrate this wonderful invitation from Our Blessed Mother of being able to experience what occurred here many years ago. We will celebrate Mass at the Chapel of the Apparitions (Capelinha), located at the Cova da Iria, pray the Rosary, and witness the Blessing of the Sick, followed by a walking tour. After dinner, we participate in the Candlelight Procession where pilgrims from around the world unite to pray to Our Lady of the Rosary. Dinner and overnight in Fatima.

Free day in Fatima. There is an optional excursion to Batalha, Alcobaca and Nazare, the three other great Marian shrines of Portugal, and Ourem. These are important historical and artistic monuments that allow a visitor to understand how deeply rooted is the devotion which the Portuguese people have for Our Lady resulting in the faith seen at the Cova da Iria. Nazare is a typical fishing village of the area where a local chapel enshrines an ancient miraculous statue of Our Lady of Nazare. Ourem, with its ruins of a castle on the hilltop, was the town where the Bishop resided during the time of the apparitions and where the children were imprisoned on the 13th of August. Dinner and overnight in Fatima.
Day 5: Another free day in Fatima. An optional day excursion to Lisbon, where you can visit the birthplace of St. Anthony of Padua, and to Santarem, where a Eucharistic Miracle is located, will be offered. Dinner and overnight in Fatima.
Day 6: We say farewell to Portugal as we board our flight back to the USA, arriving later that day.
