Queenship of Mary
Since the 4th century, the Church has honored Mary with the royal title of Queen and in 1954 Pope Pius XII established the feast of the Queenship of Mary, now celebrated on August 22. He said, "Our Blessed Mother is to be called Queen, not only by reason of Her divine Maternity, but also because by the will of God, She has had an outstanding part in the work of our eternal salvation." The Immaculate Virgin was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory when Her earthly life was over, and exalted by the Lord as Queen of all things, that She might be more fully conformed to Her Son, the Lord of lords (RV 19:16) and conqueror of sin and death.

On this 10 day Catholic pilgrimage through Portugal, Spain and France, we contemplate the "Queenship of Mary" and the life and teachings of Our Blessed Mother as we tour Fatima, Madrid, Lourdes, Lisieux and Nevers among the holy places and shrines associated with Her miraculous messages to the faithful.

10 Days - Portugal, Spain and France
Day 1: Depart the USA on your flight to Lisbon, Portugal. Meals will be served on overnight flight.
Day 2: "Boa Vinda!" That's "Welcome!" in Portuguese. After arriving in Lisbon, our Tour Director welcomes us with a beautiful smile and escorts us through the mountainous central region of the Serra de Aire toward Fatima, once a remote village of the Moors, and now one of the most important Catholic pilgrimage destinations in the world. Dinner and overnight in Fatima.
Day 3: We will celebrate Mass at the Chapel of the Apparitions (Capelinha), located at the Cova da Iria, pray the Rosary, and witness the Blessing of the Sick, followed by a walking tour. After dinner, we will participate in the Candlelight Procession where pilgrims from around the world unite to pray to Our Lady of the Rosary. Dinner and overnight in Fatima.
Day 4: Today we continue our journey to Madrid, the capital of Spain. Dinner and overnight in Madrid.
Day 5: An optional excursion to Avila will be available. Avila, the 12th century walled town associated with St. Teresa and her confessor St. John of the Cross. We will visit her birthplace and the Carmelite Convent which contains many of her relics. Dinner and overnight in Madrid.
Day 6: Travel to Lourdes, France, one of the greatest pilgrimage shrines in the world. It was here at the Grotto of Massabielle, in February 1858, that Our Blessed Mother appeared 18 times to a young, sickly child named Bernadette Soubirous and later proclaimed to her that She was the Immaculate Conception. Dinner and overnight in Lourdes.
Day 7: After breakfast, we celebrate Mass and then participate in the walking tour of Lourdes, where we visit the places associated with the life of St. Bernadette. The afternoon may be spent in private devotion at the Way of the Cross with its life-size statues on the hill, in Eucharistic Adoration, in confession or taking part in the Miraculous Baths to experience the message of Our Lady. After dinner, we may participate in the Candlelight Procession or simply spend some more private time at the "Grotto". Dinner and overnight in Lourdes.
Day 8: Early morning departure bound for Paris. Upon arrival, we will be met by our Tour Director, who will take us on a city tour, where we will enjoy the "City of Lights" many famous sights on our panoramic sightseeing city tour, including the Eiffel Tower and Champs Elysees with the Arc de Triomphe. We then continue on to the beautiful and inspiring Notre Dame Cathedral, whose construction began 1163. Our visit culminates with a celebration of the Mass at the Miraculous Medal Chapel, where the incorrupt body of St. Catherine Labouré is kept. It was in 1830 that Our Blessed Mother had appeared to her, giving her the mission of having a medal struck and distributed, which later became known as the Miraculous Medal. A decade later, in 1840, Our Blessed Mother appeared again, this time to Justine Bisqueyburu with the gift of the Green Scapular. Dinner and overnight in Paris.
Day 9: Free day in Paris; spend some time at the museums
or maybe shop for some souvenirs for the loved ones.
