Feb 12, Day 1: Our journey begins as we depart New York on our transatlantic flight bound for Tel Aviv, Israel. Meals will be served on board.
Feb. 13, Day 2: Afternoon arrival. After passport control, we pickup our luggage and head to meet our guide and driver. We begin our pilgrimage to the Holy Land with a visit to ancient Jaffa (New Testament Joppa), where the Apostle Peter had a vision whilst sitting on the rooftop of the House of Simon, the tanner, and he received God's command to preach the Gospel to the Gentiles. Next we drive to our hotel. Dinner and overnight in the Galilee area.
Feb. 14, Day 3: We start the day with a visit to the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint Gabriel, site of Mary's well, in Nazareth, then walking the path that our Blessed Mother may have taken on Her way home through the colorful bazaars leading to the Basilica of the Annunciation, followed by a a visit to St. Joseph's Church. We then proceed to a 12th Century AD synagogue church built by the Crusaders. According to tradition, the church was built above the original location of the Roman-era synagogue where Jesus first learned, prayed and later preached at as a young man. We end the day at Cana, at the beautiful church built over the site where Jesus performed His first miracle by turning water into wine at a wedding... and here, you may also renew your wedding vows! Dinner and overnight in the Galilee area.
Feb. 15, Day 4: The Sea of Galilee is rich in the memories of the 3 years of Jesus' ministry around its shores. We begin this day with a Mass at the Mount of the Beatitudes, the scene of the Sermon on the Mount, then enjoy a boatride across the Sea of Galilee, continuing to the ruins of Capernaum, which in Jesus' time was a flourishing border town and was called "His own city" because of the frequency with which Jesus visited it and the might works He did there. Next, we visit the Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes and the Church of the Primacy at Tabgha. Then, we drive up to the Golan Heights, stopping at the lookout point where we can see the "Road to Damascus". Our next stop is at one of the sources of the River Jordan at Banias, which is the site of Caesarea Philippi where the Apostle Peter made his great confession of faith in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God. Dinner and overnight in the Galilee area.
Feb. 16, Day 5: This morning we drive through the Jordan Valley, stop at Jericho, the oldest city on earth, view the Mount of Temptation and the Zacheus Tree. We will celebrate Mass in Bethlehem, where we will visit the Grotto of the Nativity, the Milk Grotto (where you can pray for a childless couple), the Shepherd's Field, where the angels of the Lord appeared to the shepherds on that first Christmas eve and announced the birth of the Savior. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
Feb. 17, Day 6: Start the day with a visit to Ascension Chapel, where Jesus ascended to Heaven, the Pater Noster church, where Jesus taught the Lord's Prayer, with its depiction of the prayer in over 160 languages, and the Mount of Olives, giving you an amazing view of the Golden City of Jerusalem. Then we walk along Palm Sunday road, stopping at Dominus Flevit, where Jesus wept over the city, enroute to the Garden of Gethsemane, where Christ prayed on the night of His betrayal, for Mass at the Church of All Nations. We cross the Kidron Valley to visit the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu, which is built over the Palace of Caiaphas, the High Priest who imprisoned Jesus and interrogated Him prior to His trial before Pontius Pilate. Next stop is the Upper Room, the Tomb of King David, the Dormition Abbey, where Our Blessed Mother rested in peace, then we drive through the New City, passing the Knesset, Israel's Parliament building, continuing to the hill country "City of Judah" which today is called Ein Karem. Here we shall visit the Church of the Visitation, where the Virgin Mary came to visit Her cousin Elizabeth, continuing to the Church of St. John the Baptist, where he was born. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
Feb. 18, Day 7: Today we walk through the old walled city of Jerusalem along the Via Dolorosa following the 14 Stations of the Cross, from Pilate's Judgement Hall to the empty tomb in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre to celebrate Mass. Then we continue through the Jewish Quarter to the last standing remnant of the ancient temple at Western or Wailing Wall, followed by a visit to the Temple Mount, where Jesus spent His time on His repeated visits to Jerusalem. We visit the Pools of Bethesda, where we can see the ruins of the two pools, and St. Ann Church, site of Our Blessed Mother's birthplace. The rest of the day is at leisure to give you a chance to pick up some souvenirs or explore this city on your own. After dinner, we drive to Tel Aviv to check-in for our homeward-bound flight at Ben Gurion Airport, rejoicing and putting our trust in the Lord, remembering the words of Psalmist in Psalm 125:1, "Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion."
Feb. 19, Day 8: Return home with an enriched faith and a new heart! Same day arrival.
