"Carmelitana" The Carmelite Journey
"Let nothing trouble you, let nothing make you afraid. All things pass away. God never changes. Patience obtains everything. God alone is enough." - St. Teresa

The earliest recorded history of the Carmelite Order dates back to the thirteenth century; to them, Carmel is prayer. Carmel is contemplation, which is talking to God as you would your best friend. The most popular saints of this religious order are St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, and St. Therese of Lisieux. We begin our journey in Fatima where Our Lady of Carmel appeared during the Miracle of the Sun on Oct. 13, 1917. Then, we travel to Avila, home to St. Teresa and her Spiritual Director, St. John of the Cross, continuing to Lisieux, home to St. Therese, and ending in Aylesford in Kent, England where according to tradition, Our Lady appeared to St. Simon Stock, a Carmelite, and made the Brown Scapular the sign of Her protection. With it came the promise that whoever wore Her "habit" devoutly would be assured of eternal salvation.
